Mean Girls Day!

On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.

And if I was there, I would have said Mean Girls Day, uncultured swine!

And trust me, I wore pink today.

It’s Mean Girls Day! Why? October the 3rd was the day Aaron asked Cady what the date was. And you know what she said? She said October 3rd.

Now, if you haven’t watched Mean Girls, firstly I want to correct you before you say “it’s just a movie, don’t be so dramatic”. It’s not just a movie. It’s a lifestyle. A lifestyle that chose me. Specifically, one evening when I was about ten, with my parents, and I wanted to choke on soil when the coach said to not have sex because then you will get pregnant and die. And I never got ‘the talk’ so I guess, better Coach Carr than no one.

But besides my strange childhood that made me the way I am now (i’m okay), I wanted to share my top favourite iconic Mean Girls quotes:

“On Wednesdays we wear pink.”

“If you’re from Africa, why are you white?”

I wish I could bake a cake filled with rainbows and smiles and everyone would eat and be happy.”

“She doesn’t even go here.”

“I can’t help it if I have a heavy flow and wide set vagina.”

“That is so fetch.”

“I gave him everything. I was half a virgin when I met him.”

“I’m kinda psychic. I have a fifth sense. It’s like I have ESPN or something.”

“Ex-boyfriends are just off limits to friends. I mean, that’s just like the rules of feminism.”

“You can’t sit with us.”

“You go Glen Coco!”

And on the third day, God created the Remington bolt-action rifle, so that man could fight the dinosaurs. And the homosexuals.”

And two extra bonus ones because I think they’re important and everyone should live by:

“Calling somebody else fat won’t make you any skinnier. Calling someone stupid doesn’t make you any smarter. All you can do in life is try to solve the problem in front of you.” – Cady Heron

There are two kinds of evil people in this world. Those who do evil stuff and those who see evil stuff being done and don’t try to stop it.” – Janis Ian

Hope you had a happy hump day!

The Quote

“What’s the day without a little night?”

-Logic & Alessia Cara, 1-800-273-8255

I love both Logic and Alessia Cara as individuals, but I loved them even more when they united to collaborate on this song, 1-800-273-8255 (also the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), that has such a powerful message and meaning, shedding light onto a topic that is deemed as shameful and a taboo to society. The quote implies that you need a little darkness in your life for there to be good and happiness, and that positivity will come out of a bad situation, even if your situation seems to be going on forever. You will at some point in your life be stuck in a place of darkness, some more than others, but there’s always a safe way out.

More on this song and mental illness in a later post.

Gotta Love Disney!

Disney, I think, is a magical word even without knowing what it is.

I love Disney. Always have and, probably, always will.

It’s taught me a lot and has made me smile, inspired, happy and so much more that the list would go on forever.

In fact, my family used to call me Boo from Monsters Inc. because apparently, I always had my hair in two bunches and always seemed to say “Boo!”

That’s what they said anyway.

Actually, one of the ‘youngster’ cousins in my family married a girl who used to work for Disney. So that’s pretty cool.

tumblr_lyamyolWo51ql04i7o1_500To be honest, I have no idea what I made this post for but I think Disney is totally worth it and is just too amazing to not express my love for it.

And Disney is so varied. It has movies from kids horror like The Nightmare Before Christmas to girly, adventurous ones like Brave or action packed films with real people like Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Quotes I love from Disney:

“No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella

“I was hiding under your porch because I love you.” – Up

“If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.” – Bambi

“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.” – The Lion King

“‘Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.” – Lilo & Stitch

“Ladies do not start fights, but they can finish them.” – The AristoCats

“You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh

“Our fate lives within us. You only have to be brave enough to see it.” – Brave

“Faith, trust and pixie dust.” – Tinkerbell

“Hakuna matata, it means no worries for the rest of your day.” – The Lion King

“I wouldn’t have nothing, if I didn’t have you.” – Monsters Inc

“To infinity and beyond.” – Toy Story

“The human world is a mess.” – The Little Mermaid

“It’s “Make your mamas proud” time!” – Wreck-It-Ralph

“Never grow up.” – Peter Pan

Crazy BuzzFeed facts about Disney:

  1. 101 Dalmatians, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, and Mulan are among the only animated Disney movies where both parents are present and don’t die during the course of the movie.
  2. Pixar credits its success to going against Disney’s standards narrative elements: No songs, no “I want” moments, no happy village, no love story, no villain.
  3. A hyena biologist sued Disney for portraying hyenas as villains in The Lion King.
  4. Beast’s appearance in Beauty and the Beast is an amalgamation of several animals. It’s said he has the head of a buffalo, the brow of a gorilla, the body of a bear, the mane of a lion, the tusks of a boar, and the legs and tail of a wolf.
  5. Rapunzel and Flynn from Tangled can be seen in Frozen.
  6. Also, Andy didn’t have a dad in Toy Story because human characters were expensive and difficult to animate.
  7.  Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is the most expensive film ever made.
  8. Tangled is the second most expensive movie ever made.
  9. Boo’s real name is Mary.
  10. When a 10-year-old girl with cancer was too sick to see Up, Pixar flew an employee to her house with a DVD of the movie. She died seven hours after her private screening.
  11. The voice actress behind Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, Daveigh Chase, also played Samara in The Ring.
  12. Walt Disney received one regular Oscar statue and seven smaller statues when Snow White and the Seven Dwarves won an honorary Academy Award.
  13. The vultures from The Jungle Book were intended to be voiced by the Beatles.

Let’s leave that at 13, after all, it is Friday the 13th!!!
