Meet Willow!

For a few days, me and my sister have been searching through ads online for kittens. It wasn’t that we knew, for sure, we were going to get one, we just wanted to look and raise our hopes of getting one. We ended up dragging my dad into the searching and he soon became intrigued. My mum refused to get involved, worried about the sofas and curtains and amount of money we would spend.

Willow in the Car

However, and I think you expected this, we saw an ad on Gumtree and we messaged the owner. Three hours later, we were on our drive to their house.

In the three hours before getting her, we contemplated between the names, Penny and Willow. I even sent a vote to my snapchat streaks, friends and cousins, because I couldn’t decide. The winner was Willow, which suited her more anyway.

She meowed in her carrier box on the journey back and let me tell you, this kitten has a loud meow. I had to take her out and hold her for the rest of the journey, as she stared out the window, to stop her meowing.

Willow’s a very shy and skittish cat but she’s also very hyper and clumsy. And obviously, she’s adorable!

Although she’s quite hyper, she’s very different to my old cat, Milly, who was quite confident, brave, friendly and crazy. I think her personality will develop more over time, though.

Sleeping Under the Chair

She loves sleeping under this chair, which can move out into this bed sort of thing when you press a button, so it’s kind of annoying because now we can’t use the button in case we squish her.

She also won’t do her business in the litter box, if we watch her. I think she gets embarrassed and she goes when we’re not around or she’ll pretend to do something else near by it until we leave.

I haven’t had a cat since 2012 so I cannot wait to experience all the ‘cat’ things like waking up to her taking up most of my bed space and the dead mice in our living room.

I hope you love Willow as much as I do! I might make more updates on her as time goes along!

The Social Media Blog Tag!

I was nominated by the lovely Ally to do this tag! I had never heard of this tag before, so at first, I was a little confused, but it’s actually a really interesting and cool tag so thank you very much Ally for the nomination! 😀

Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Choose a blogger or blog to nominate for each category and explain why you chose them
  • Tag others to do this (up to you how many)

Whoever I select for each category is the blogger I nominate to do this tag!

Categories

INSTAGRAM – A BLOG WITH A DESIGN YOU LOVE

Zara because the layout of her blog and everything about it, to me, looks professional, clean and simple but artsy. She’s also good at photography so that adds to the amazingness that is her blog design!

FACEBOOK – A BLOG WITH A FRIENDLY BLOGGER

Starr because she is the sweetest person EVER! Go comment on one of her posts right now; she’s genuinely such a friendly and honest person! 😀

TWITTER – A BLOGGER WHO COULD WRITE JUST 140 CHARACTERS AND YOU WOULD STILL LOVE THEM

Haru because her posts aren’t that long anyway and she keeps me drawn in so I’m sure she could write a simple 140 characters and make me smile or laugh. 😂 Her drawings are great and I just love the way she writes because it’s relaxed and amusing!

YOUTUBE – A BLOG WHICH KEEPS YOUR ENTERTAINED

Wamby because she’s freaking hilarious! She always knows when to use the perfect gif and always has a great and witty response to pretty much everything!

SNAPCHAT – A BLOGGER WHO’S UPDATES YOU CAN’T WAIT FOR

The Orang-utan Librarian as I used to be a bookworm so a small, buried part of me is raving and getting crunk whenever I read her posts! Her book-related posts are also, generally, interesting and I’ve learnt about different points of views and ‘angles’ to write in that I didn’t even know was a thing.

TUMBLR – A BLOG WHICH IS VERY DIVERSE AND HAS VARIETY

Cee since she writes about a range of things. A lot like my blog, there is not one specific category for her blog. She posts what she wants to post whether that be poems, anxiety in teenagers, her goals, etc.

PINTEREST – A BLOG WHICH IS FULL OF CREATIVITY AND INSPIRATION

In A Messy World because she’s always posting deep and meaningful posts, that make me think a lot. I think she’s gone through a lot of tough times and situations and she’s learnt from that and grown a little wiser each time and she shares those lessons, morals and memories on her blog.

So, that’s it! 🙂 Again, anyone I chose for the social media categories, you’re nominated to do this tag, if you choose to do so!

The Reason for the Award

This Award is to acknowledge all the amazing bloggers out there and give some happiness and laughter to their reader. It was originally created by the fabulous Maggie.

The Questions and My Answers

  1. Do you wear make-up? Why?
Yes I do: usually I just fill in my eyebrows just a little and then wear very subtle orange eyeshadow. I do it because a)I like the look of it b)the orange eyeshadow makes me look not dead and c)I’ve gotten into habit of doing it now. I also curl my eyelashes because I like my eyelashes touching my eyebrows XD but I hate having to deal with mascara.
  2. What would you eat if you had to eat it for the rest of your life?
Potatoes. I love potatoes. Mashed. Fried. Baked. Boiled. Fermented?
  3. If you were stuck on a stranded island, what 3 things would you want to have with you?
This is a terrible question for me. I feel like I should give a smart answer with some sort of scientific explanation for justification but I also just want to say my laptop, Nutella and tea tree oil (for the spots that come after I eat the Nutella).
  4. What scent of candles do you like the most?

    pretty much wine mom culture

I like sweet and fruity smells. I also like ‘autumny’ smells like pumpkin and cinnamon. I have this candle that smells like wine a bit, which I kind of like too even though I don’t drink…
Saying that kind of makes me feel like those mums who chill at home with jeans and a glass of red wine, or a whole bottle, in hand while lowkey drunk as their children are telling them to stop.

  5. If you could go to any place in the world, where would you go?
Japan! I really want to go there. Or an exotic island like The Solomon Islands.
  6. What’s one thing that you love about your blog?
I like that it’s personalised to me: it has my favourite colours and the setup is how I like it. And also everything I post is what I want to post and what I want to see on my blog. Basically, I like that it’s very ‘me’.
  7. What is your favourite piece of clothing?
My yellow raincoat. Or hats even though they make me break out.
  8. What is your favourite flower?
    Lilies. 🌺
  9. Do you know what quokkas are? What are your opinions on them?
I’m going to be honest here. I had to google it because I was curious but I actually know what they are, I just didn’t know they were called quokkas. I think they’re adorable and I just wanna give them a hug even though they’d probably try to fight me. I’ve been attacked by many animals before so I can smile through the pain.
  10. What is your mood right now?
I feel happy, disappointed, calm and tense at the same time. That’s what the education system does to you. 🙂

Thank you, Starr, so much for nominating me. She just started blogging this year and already, her blog is off to a great start! Her posts are honest, meaningful and personal and I’ve found they’re very relatable. She’s a great writer and her posts are very interesting so what are you doing? Go check her out!

11 Facts About Me

  1. In this moment in time, I think I’m the only person and most definitely the only Marvel fan, who has not seen Black Panther. (YET!)
  2. Sometimes, when I look at something or someone for a while, things start to become really warped; things will look really big or really small and I can’t stop it. I used to get it a lot at parent’s evening when you’d have to sit face to face with teachers, which is awwwkward.
  3. I currently work in retail as a sales assistant, in a clothes store.
  4.  I wear a yellow coat everywhere and a lot of people call me Georgie from It and Paddington.
  5. I really want to voice a cartoon character one day. (Weird ambition, I know. XD )
  6. My favourite animal are wolves.
  7. I once accidentally ended up on set of Les Misérables (2012) while it was being filmed!
  8. 2017, despite the negativity in the world, was the best year of my life.
  9. I’m currently studying at sixth form, doing Biology, Chemistry and Psychology.
  10. My favourite video game is Overwatch.
  11. I used to watch Power Rangers in secret when I was younger because I didn’t want my mum to say I was a boy (she said it once as a joke but I was sensitive).

Starr’s Questions and My Answers

  1. Who or what inspired you to start blogging?
-I don’t remember exactly but what I do remember is reading Girl Online and realising that blogging was a cool hobby and I was interested in pursuing it again (I had a previous blog which I deleted). It was also the beginning of the year and I wanted to do something fun because I tend to get bored and depressed during the first months.
  2. Have your blogging goals ever changed? How?
-Probably. My intention when I first started blogging was to have fun and get better at writing and meet bloggers and although I still love meeting new bloggers and obviously still want to have fun with writing posts, my main goal is to spread awareness and share things I love and use WordPress as a platform to speak out, I guess.
  3. Movies or books?
I hate to say this but, I haven’t read in a long time. I’ve read a few pages every now and again but I’ve been really busy. I’m going to have to go with movies. (I also did Media Studies and now appreciate film production a bit more.)
  4. Tea or coffee?
    Tea.
  5. Has blogging changed you in any way, or does it help you in any way? If yes, how?
When I write informative posts (e.g. about feminism) I do a lot of research and even if I don’t include it into the posts, I still learn a lot and it makes me more educated on a particular topic and also a lot more open minded. And when I research new stuff, I tend to tell my friends, so I guess it’s helped me and others. 🙂
  6. What are your two favourite bloggers?
    I CAN’T PICK!!
  7. What’s your favourite TV Show?
More like, what isn’t my favourite TV Show. For someone who’s “always busy”, I watch a lot of shows. But I have to say The Flash or Stranger Things.
  8. Are you a football (or soccer) fan? If yes, what team do you belong to?
    I am not a fan.
  9. What are the things that make you feel happy about being you?
I like that I’m hardworking. I make a lot of lazy jokes about myself but I actually work, study, and focus on other projects I’m passionate about all the time. And even though it may sound vain, I like that I make people laugh. It makes me happy that I make other people happy (it’s like a selfish selfless things XD ).
  10. What are the things that make you sad about being you?
I can be very self-conscious at times. I’m a little self conscious about my appearance.
  11. What do you aspire to become in the future?
I really want to work in a lab as possibly a biochemist or work in another biological/biomedical science. I also want to publish a novel in the future.

My Last Post!

As you guys might have noticed or probably didn’t (I don’t know) I haven’t been active on this blog for a couple of weeks. And I think it’s time to explain why.

I’ve been watching Spiderman over and over again lately.

And I’ve come to the conclusion that that is what I want to be when I’m older.

However, society says that’s crazy. So I decided that I m destined to be something quite similar to spider man. And that is a professional window cleaner for tall buildings so I look like I’m climbing up the walls.

spiderman

This means that I have to sacrifice some things, including my blog, to really practise my new passion and get to where I want to be, a window cleaner.

You guys are probably thinking, Shay, are you high? Probably. (Lol I can’t make that joke. I don’t even do drugs. XD )

But this is serious and I’ve really thought about it and I know that this is my destiny.

I hope everyone understands and I am going to miss you all but we have to give things up for our dreams, right?

I’m so sorry that I might have surprised you but it’s really hard bottling it up and hiding this dream of mine.

Goodbye everyone.

Go on an adventure.

  • My favourite colour used to be green because my mum’s, cousin’s and a few friends of mine liked that colour so I thought I had to join in. XD
  • A year or two ago, in the summer season, I would go on the roof of the extended part of our house and just sit there listening to music and reading, almost every day.
  • My first album, I ever owned, was the Now That’s What I Call Music 77 album.
  • Two little goals I want to achieve are whistling and cartwheeling.

Dragon’s Loyalty Award!

Rules:

1. Thank the bloggers who nominated you.
2. Put the logo in your post.
3. Post 7 facts about yourself.
4. Nominate 7 other bloggers.

So the facts…I already did a 30 facts post about myself so I’m going to try pick different ones:

  1. I used to get headaches so many times that it got to the point where I had one twice (maybe more) a week. I still get them but not as much.
  2. My real name means beautiful XD
  3. I used to be terrified of cats. This was when I was about eight, when I was going through my OBSESSIVE RABBIT PHASE!!! And cats are now one of my favourite animals.
  4. I used to be so upset about being away from home, when I was in the early years of primary school. This led to me eating SOOOO slowly at lunch time that I actually went over lunch time and had to sit in the office to eat because I refused to eat my lunch.
  5. Sometimes, I lie on my bed and look out my window at the sky for a good five minutes or more. When you’re still, you can see the clouds moving and you can almost feel the earth turning. (Kind of a fact)
  6. I’ve never moved house.
  7. I had lessons for playing the violin for about a month or two but I quit because the teacher was scary. She also made everyone who did violin lessons with her join this club at lunch and you couldn’t leave or she’d get angry. She never shouted but the way she spoke was terrifying. Everyone who had lessons with her thought the same way.

Planet Shay’s 100th Post Special!

So, I posted something earlier today. It was a crazy theory! And as I posted it, I got a notification saying 100TH POST! So…I put it in a draft so I would still have 99 posts published and this extra special post could be the 100th.

So yeah….

So this is my 100th post!!!! 😀

So I spent a while contemplating what to do in celebration for my 100th post and decided pinkie pie paryI’m going to do a 30 facts about me (I know it’s usually 50 but I’m going to struggle with 50 xD) because, even though you know quite a bit about me, you don’t know the little “fun (not that  fun)” facts about me!

So numero uno (I don’t speak Spanish): I’ve been writing stories since I was five (I’m sure I’ve mentioned that before)

2. I once won 8th out of 60 in a memory competition. And that seemed to lead to being a very forgetful person  XD

3. I’ve been “training” (more like following the things you need to do) to lucid dream for a while now. Just like two/three more years to go -_-

4. I was supposed to be born on Halloween but I was an adventurous foetus and wanted to escape into the world.

5. I actually have a half sister, who died at a very young age before I was born…

6. My first best friend, who was and probably still is amazing, moved house in year one and we used to hang out all the time but the last time I saw her was when I was in year five/six. It’s a sad life 😥

7. My first pets, that weren’t fish, were two rabbits, called Charlie and Lucky. They…died. Well, they might have run away because we found their hutch open and empty.

8. I’m 5 foot and two inches tall.

9. I wrote and finished my first chapter book in year 7. It was rubbish but at least I did it…right?

10. I have a feeling I’ve said this before….but I sneeze or almost sneeze when I see bright lights.

11. At some point, I wanted to be a lawyer.

12. I was once on Christmas Download. They played a montage of kids dancing to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You on a big screen and I was on it…dancing…with my three other friends. XD

13. My favourite flowers are lilies 🙂

14. The only book that’s ever made me cry is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

15. When I was about three, I was so evil and cheeky, I bit people. My cousin, who is a grown man, said he had never felt such a painful bite before. I also put one of my older cousin’s iPhone in his drink. I don’t recall any of those memories…probably for the best.

16. When I was younger, I tried to run away. I remember holding my coat, wearing my pyjamas with my backpack on my back and walking to the door and my dad asking where I was going. I said I was running away and he laughed and suggested he should drive me to the airport and I realised I didn’t know where to go and got scared and went back to my room.

17. People used to call me Boo, when I was little because I had bunches like Boo from Monster Inc. and I always said…Boo. XD I don’t have any recollection of that either but it happened.

18. I used to be a HUGE (and I mean huge) fan of Selena Gomez. I had an obsession…

19. I once sent a message to Cathy Cassidy, who used to be my favourite author ever, and she replied back!!! She was so sweet too! 🙂

20. The first YouTuber I watched, a lot (at first) was StampyLongHead, because my sister told me to, and then I started watching LDShadowLady, Superwoman, Yammy xox and Zoella.

21. I have a small celebrity crush on Nat Wolff. I love his sense of humour. 🙂

22. I hate kiwis.

23. I’ve been watching Friends since I can remember. I know for sure I was younger than five.

24. I had a crazy obsession with rabbits that whenever someone saw a picture of a rabbit or an actual rabbit, they would call me. In fact, I got an award for being a determined bunny explorer, when we went on a week’s school trip in the countryside. The prize was actually a stuffed cat toy. Kind of weird. XD

25. I had braces for about three years. I was only supposed to have them for one/two years, though, because my teeth were already quite straight. I had other issues, though, because I didn’t follow the ‘rules’, properly.

26. Following fact 25, I now hate the dentist and orthodontist!

27. The first time I went to the hairdresser was two years ago.

28. I used to watch Ellen all the time.

29. Autumn is my favourite season.

30. I’m dreading year 10! :0 And I’m going to be in it in two days from now. D:

So those were the 30 facts about me! I’d love if you posted some cool facts about yourself! 🙂

And that’s the end of my 100th post special! 😀 I hope the facts thing was a good idea to do because I had no idea what else I could do. XD

Sticks And Stones May Break My Bones, But Words Won’t Hurt Me?

“Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words won’t hurt me?”

How many times have you heard that?

I’ve heard it a lot! Especially by my friends. I have never actually thought about it until I found Youngandtwenty’s Sticks and Stones post (amazing blog, btw) and it made me actually realise that the quote can be very wrong. In fact, super wrong. Not all the time, but most of the time. It depends on the type of person you are, however.

imageSomeone can punch you, the pain will eventual fade away. It could last a couple of minutes or a few months but treatment for physical pain is easy. As for mental pain from words can cling onto you for ages. I mean, physical pain can as well but it’s easier to get rid of, in most cases. The brain is the most complex thing that has been studied known to man. So mental pain can be difficult to fix.

This is personally with me, but if someone punched me, I honestly wouldn’t care much. If someone said something negative about me, which I’ve had quite a few occasions on, it makes me feel really down. I guess I have been growing more and more sensitive as the years go by but some of the things that people have said about me, kind of still hurts today. Not as much, but it does hurt. That goes with embarrassing myself too. XD

I don’t really know if that summed up what I wanted to say but I guess that’s it for now! Basically, what I tried to say was words can hurt more than sticks and stones breaking bones.
